Youth of the Year 2014

Youth of the Year Celebration - Monday, March 3, 2014
The Palms Theatre - Mesa
5:30 - 9:30pm

In the United States the statistic shows that only 69% of our high school age youth are graduating.  We are proud to say that at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley teens that are members have a 90% graduation rate!!  We focus on making sure that every member that attends the Club gets the support and academic resources necessary to progress from one grade to the next at the appropriate age and that they are graduating on time.  The Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley believe that continued education is just as important.  We provide scholarship money to help get the teens into the trade schools or colleges of their dreams.   Our annual Youth of the Year program raises the funds necessary to let this happen.

On Monday, March 3, 2014, the Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley will conduct our 22nd Annual Youth of the Year Banquet at The Palms Theatre, in Mesa to honor and recognize outstanding high school juniors and seniors who have emerged as the outstanding members of their individual branches.  We are so honored to have Brock Supply as our Title Sponsor this year! If you have never attended our Youth of the Year Banquet, you are missing out on one of the most inspiring opportunities of your life.  You’ll hear first-hand from our candidates about how the Boys & Girls Club has changed their lives.  These young people are the best and brightest of our organization, and in many cases have overcome homelessness, broken families, financial hardships and other obstacles that most people can’t even imagine.  Their stories will make you smile, cry and most importantly, make you proud. You will leave the event a changed person after hearing the personal experiences of these young people who represent our Clubs in Apache Junction, Chandler, Gilbert, Globe, Guadalupe, Mesa, Tempe and the Gila River Indian communities.  Proceeds from this event support the programs and activities offered at the 12 Branches as well as provide scholarship and financial aid to qualifying members.  Over 300 Club members have been awarded college and continued education scholarships.

If you think these young men and women can’t have an impact on kids throughout the country, consider this: the Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley has produced two National Youths of the Year: Donald Smith in 2002 and Mona Dixon in 2010. Only one other club has produced more National honorees than our organization.

Youth of the Year is an annual program sponsored nationally by Tupperware and locally by Hoag Family Trust, Chandler Compadres, Coronado West, Intel, Toyota Financial Services, Sun Lakes Charities, and Maricopa Community Colleges, to name just a few.  The Victoria Lund Foundation alone has given the last six East Valley winners a $20,000 educational fund! We hope you will consider supporting our 2014 Youth of the Year Banquet as a sponsor or donor.
