Staff Dennis Marcello

Dennis Marcello was born in Binghamton New York. In 1971, after graduating from
high school Dennis was drafted and joined the US Navy from 1972-1974. He was stationed in Guantanamo Bay Cuba for a year and thereafter Norfolk, Virginia on the U.S.S. McCandless DE-1084 whereby he visited numerous countries in the Caribbean, South America, Africa and the Middle East.

Dennis began his career with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley as a college work-study student from ASU. His first position was Physical Ed. and Health Director from 1980-1981. In 1982 he became the Program Director in Tempe. In1984-1986 he took the Branch Director position at the Boys & Girls Club of Tucson. In 1986--1990 was the first branch executive of the consolidated Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley, Chandler Branch.

Dennis became the Special Events Coordinator of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley from 1990-1991 and left to become Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club
of the Inland Empire in Ontario CA from 1991-1995.

Dennis became a Regional Service Director for Boys & Girls Clubs of America from 1995-2001.  His main responsibilities were to establish new Boys & Girls Clubs in the states of Arizona, California and Idaho. He was also responsible for overseeing, supporting and consulting to the Board of Directors of 35 local Boys & Girls Clubs in Arizona, California and Idaho.

In August 2001, Dennis took a full-time position as Vice-President of Organizational Advancement for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley in Tempe Arizona.  His duties include finishing the Capital Campaign in Gilbert and Board & Resource Estate Planning Development for the organization. In 2004-2005 Dennis took over the GFK Annual Campaign that had not reached its goals the previous 3 years. In 2004 the organization exceeded the GFK Goal of $200,000 and recently exceeded the GFK Campaign Goal for 2005 of $250,000. In April 2005 the organization changed his title to Vice-Pres. Of Development. From 2001 to 2012 he worked with the Resource Development and Board Development committees as a staff liaison.

Dennis, a father of a 21-year-old son D.J. and a 19-year-old girl Monique resides in East Mesa with his wife Gina. In his spare time he enjoys watching sports and spending time with his family.
