Food & Drink Tasting Event Hopes to Raise $185,000 for East Valley Youth

TEMPE, Ariz- March 4, 2010 – The Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley is gearing up for the 25th Annual Bon Vivant ~ A Celebration of Fine Food & Drink.  The event will be held Sunday, March 28 at Rawhide at Wild Horse Pass from 4:30pm to 10:00pm. “Every year more than 3,500 people come together to enjoy some of the Valley’s best restaurants,” said Bon Vivant Chairwoman Martha Raether.  “Bon Vivant is a casual food and drink tasting event so people can show up in their favorite western gear or dress to impress, but the main goal is to raise money for more than 30,000 children and teens who count on the Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley every year.”

Bon Vivant is presented by M&I Bank, Bashas, US Airways and Toyota Financial Services.  More than 700 varieties of wine, beer, liquor and non- alcoholic beverages are provided by Bashas’.  A few dozen restaurants will sample some of their most popular dishes and participate in a culinary competition.  Restaurants and caterers participating include Rubio’s, Sweet Leaf Tea, Verona Chophouse, Von Hanson’s Meat, Sivlik Grill, AJ’s Fine Foods, El Rico’s, Food City, Harry & David, Melting Pot, Peter Piper Pizza, Whiskey Ranch BBQ, Papa Razzini’s, The Landmark, Dunkin’ Donuts, Simply Unique Gelato & Italian Ice, Buffalo Wings & Rings, Donovan’s Steak and Chop House, Shula’s American Steakhouse, Ling & Louie’s, Boar’s Head Delicatessen, Senor Chili, Ellie’s, Native New Yorker, Anthony Spices, Julio Cesar Chavez Campeones, Los Gringos Locos, Papa Murphy’s Pizza, Spinato’s Pizza and Cake Diva.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley (www.clubzona.org) serves more than 30,000 children and teens annually, and continues to grow to meet the needs of today’s youth, providing a positive place for all kids and teens. Serving members in Apache Junction, Chandler, Gilbert, Guadalupe, Mesa, Tempe, Queen Creek, and the Gila River Indian Community, programs are offered after school and during the summer and provide youth and teens, ages 6 – 18, with fun and educational activities, supervised by professional staff.  The organization also runs Mesa Arts Academy, a K-8 charter school. The Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley’s annual membership fee is only $20 dollars a year and financial assistance is available. No child is ever turned away if they are unable to pay the fee.
