July 28, 2018: Mesa, AZ – Club members of Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley spent nearly $60,000 on a shopping spree hosted at several Kohl’s store locations. Approximately 400 children from Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley participated in the annual Back to School Shopping Spree, Saturday, July 28. The Ahwatukee location hosted about 80 children who were able to purchase clothes, shoes and other essentials for the upcoming school year.
Tanika, a parent of a Club kid said, “It means a lot because I am a single parent of two kids, so to be able to get help is amazing. It helps our family because we have been going through some financial hardships in the last few months so this has been such a blessing.”
“It was really fun, all the people were really helpful and you could tell they wanted to be there. It’s a nice experience, especially for the little one,” said Latiana, a Ladmo club member.
Rufino, the Ahwatukee store General Manager explained, “It’s about partnerships in the community and we have had a great partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley. The stores really get excited every year to do this because it’s benefitting the kids and their families.”
