Staff Vic Cordts
Current Occupation/Employer: Branch Executive of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley Ladmo Branch-Tempe
Background: Vic spent his late childhood and teen years as a resident of the Tempe community after relocating from Globe, AZ. Months after this relocation, Vic was introduced to the Boys Club in Tempe. He was a member for 8 years before entering adulthood. Vic completed a single tour in the U. S. Army, serving from 1988-1992. After his tour he attended community college in El Paso, TX, Mesa, AZ and eventually fulfilled his requirements for Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science/Wellness from Arizona State University (ASU) in 1998.
As a junior at ASU and by chance, Vic was reunited with the Club that was now The Boys & Girls Clubs of the East Valley in Guadalupe when it was conducted at Frank Elementary school. After a short departure from The Club to perform an internship, Vic returned to the Tempe Club as a part time staff in 1999. A full time position eventually opened at the Gilbert Branch and Vic was hired as the Health & PE Director in August of 1999. Three years later he returned to the Tempe Club as a Youth Development Director eventually attaining his current title as Branch Executive in 2007. All this time with the Club amounts to almost a half of Vic’s lifetime.
Professionally, Vic has served as liaison for the organization’s ten Health & PE programs, co-chaired for two seasons a committee for the Arizona Boys & Girls Clubs’ youth basketball tournaments, has been a member of Kiwanis Club of Tempe since 2003, currently sits on Tempe’s Committee for Youth, Families and Community Coalition, Tempe’s Coalition for Childhood Obesity, and is a current member of the Association of Boys & Girls Clubs Professionals.
Vic is an enrolled member of the San Carlos Apache Nation, married to wife Kimberly for 16 years, has three children--one in college and two in elementary school. He is now a ten year resident of Chandler, AZ but still works in and his two younger kids attend school in Tempe. Vic enjoys sports, video games, outdoor activities, and can listen to just about every genre of music.
