Youth of the Year Program


• The Youth of the Year Program develops club members who are articulate, well-groomed and knowledgeable spokespersons for their club and community. The qualities of character, service and leadership make up the Youth of the Year Program.

• The rating criteria for Youth of the Year Program is judged on leadership qualities and service extended through:  Home and Family, Moral Character, Community, School, Service to Club, Life Goals, Obstacles Overcome, Essays, Poise and Public Speaking.

• 2001 Michelle Lynn Bates, 9 year club member of the Tempe Ladmo Branch, was named the Arizona State Youth of the Year.

• 2002 Donald Smith, 13 year club member of the Tempe Ladmo Branch, was named the Boys & Girls Club of America National Youth of the Year of amongst 4 million youth.

• 2009 Precious Wilson, 9 year club member of the Tempe Ladmo Branch, was named Arizona State Youth of the Year.

• 2010 Romonia Dixon, 4 year club member of the Tempe Ladmo Branch, was named Arizona State Youth of the Year.  In July, she was named Pacific Region Youth of the Year and competes for the National title against 4 other outstanding youth in September and will mee President Obama in the Oval Office.
